Hi Andrew,
Thanks for writing. I'm happy you liked what I said in my video.
If more people knew how much better our world can be, I'm convinced they would demand that their political "leaders" (sort of an oxymoron these days) give them that better world.
Yes, I will be speaking at the conference in London... mostly on how whole systems thinking (rather than analysis, where we look at the parts of a problem) is the entrepreneurial mindset of the future... and what that mindset makes possible.
Are you thinking of going to the conference?
Steve
PS I spent 15 years in the engineering profession... and am back in touch with that profession now (am going to Florida tomorrow for the annual conference of the American Society of Civil Engineers). But my parents were both in the entertainment business (musician father and dancer mother), so I have a very creative side to me that I've let out more and more since I left the profession to pursue my community and international development "dream career".
Hi Steve
Christine just invited me here as we sit at adjoining desks at the PHI office. I got really inspired hearing you talk on a video on your website.
And the conference in London looks very exciting.
Am I right you will be talking there? And on what subject?
take care
Andrew
PS I note you were a civil engineer.
Phew that's a relief. Our commercial director was a civil engineer and he is so dry!
Thanks for the warm greetings. (And also, I appreciate all you wrote to Chris using regular email.)
In answer to your brand question, the name I use is "Star Trek: The Academy". Since I am not the official licensee, I don't think I can share the logo / image I had someone put together for me. But if you promise not to share it with anyone, I'll send it to you.
By definition Star Trek+Transformational Facilitaton for Corporates => Sustainable World is defined as Sustainopreneurial Venture!
I am here, together with others to: Listen, abundantly, from a plus sum perspective, welcoming a world where another person's growth means inspiration to your growth. Even if you don't see the person, we're oneness of this little piece of Solar Driftwood we call Earth.
The sun is on the other side of it now, so I better get some Night's Rest. Good thing it shines on the other side, otherwise this would be a veeery cold place. And the warmth you bring here adds the heat in a good way in this little café. A little noise-free, qualitative resort, focused on what I have said as a starter, if you want to escape the craziness at other spots, like Facebook etc...
Here, we have a café, and it cannot be crammed :). But the space is enough for every sustainopreneur, especially Sustainability EXTRApreneurs (a new word?) who wants to support Sustainability INTRApreneurs (a word already in the v 1.0 version of the concept - see Essential Links on start page www.sustainopreneurship.info), through a Sustainability ENTREpreneurial venture named [?]. What's the Brand of the Star Trek venture?
:)
Peace,

About Me:
Steve Brant is an independent researcher, theorist, and Corporate Social Responsibility brand-building consultant. His mission is to help the Corporate Social Responsibility movement transform the global sociopolitical economic system so that sustainable peace and prosperity for all becomes a reality. Through Trimtab Management Systems, Steve offers an innovation-base synthesis of the systemic redesign principles developed by Drs. Russell L. Ackoff, W. Edwards Deming, and R. Buckminster Fuller as the most powerful approach for achieving that global transformation. Steve is a native of New York City, has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Masters Degree studies at NYU's Graduate School of Business Administration, and belongs to the Ackoff, Deming, and Fuller professional development communities. Steve's previous career was as a civil engineer and engineering program manager for the Army Corps of Engineers and the NYC Department of Transportation. Steve has participated in The UN Global Compact since 2001 and is currently writing his first book, entitled "A World Beyond War In Our Lifetime".
Innovation focused corporate social responsibility brand-building and strategy development. My mission is to use innovation and design to help build a sustainable future for organizations and humanity as a whole.
Why I entered this Café, and what I expect from being here, joining up with community members:
I expect to find people who - like me - want to improve society by looking at the challenge from a whole system perspective. We cannot improve the system in which we live by only seeking to improve its parts. Yet, the environment, education, health care, and governance are only parts of the system. I seek people who want to not just improve but transform the whole socioeconomic political system.
My three main recommendations for community members:
(1) Always seek to understand what the other person knows before trying to get them to understand what you know. In other words, "listen".
(2) Speaking of what other people know, there's a lot of wisdom in Einstein's statement "The significant problems we face cannot be solved with the same thinking we used to create them." I recommend community members consider the possibility that any thinking that was born of a world of scarcity.. of the "us against them" / zero sum mental model... is obsolete.
(3) Read the book "Operating Manual for Spaceship Earth" by R. Buckminster Fuller. You can do so for free on-line here - http://www.bfi.org/node/422 Also read "Blue Ocean Strategy" by Mauborgne and Kim - http://www.blueoceanstrategy.com for more info.
