Hi, Adite. I apologize for not saying hello sooner (I'm starting to become social media'd out!). I hope you'll take a moment at some point to visit OurWorld. I think you might find it interesting, and we certainly would value input from your area of the world.

Best regards!
Jeff

Dear Adite,

Thanks for bestowing on me the honour, I am thrilled having received your greetings from Delhi - a city of which Mir siad, "....retey thay jehan muntakhib rozgar kay....". Border? I think "thoughts and relationships" are boderless and that can and should make a difference - the the better!

Thoughtful people across 'the boder' owe a lot to teaming millions living a wretched life in the region and not only in India and Pakistan.

Kindest regards. Sadiq

The Financial Crisis and the Problem with Consumption-Driven Growth

I came across this great article written by Sunita Narain of Centre for Science and Environment. Please do post your comments and reactions. Thanks. Adite

Earlier this year, I called the Union budget myopic (see Down To Earth, March 31, 2008). Let me reiterate why. The [Indian] Union budget did not take into account the fact the world was beginning to face new challenges, all of which were devastating, and related. One, the rising cost of our food—you will recall subsequently prices did go up a… Continue

Innovative Ways of Fighting Global Poverty

CSR is a much-debated topic. While most CSR activities have mostly remained at the level of generating good PR for the corporates, here is an example of American Express' attempts at funding innovative programs that seek to benefit a constituency other than that of the company's core client base.

The Members Project of American Express invited social entrepreneurs to submit their innovative projects. Based on votes of American Express card holders [as well as non-card holders]the deserving proj… Continue
