Sustainopreneur's Cafe

- Community of Sustainability Entrepreneurs

Trans-entrepreneurship - Transpreneurship.

Transpreneurship should be the supreme action of a wise sustainopreneur who realises the necessity of transforming for example a bankruptcy buisness to a profitable ditto specially during hard and tough times as now when the financial crises are on the heels of each other.

Transpreneurship is about transforming, reconstructing, sharing, using/ re-using, or cycling/ re-cycling our ressources as well as our best "know how", multi-laterally and multi-horisontally but also transglocally in both short- and long-term perspectives - for the best of all of us!

Transpreneurship is an alternative entrepreneurship that is for innovation, prevention and action and is open for wise and alternative currencies!

Transpreneurs are individuals or joint organisms who do their best to find new ways to improve the life/ situation/ environment for all concerned glocally and interdependently.

Look frwd for your reflections and feedbacks!

Hi, Naima,

A -preneur that transforms, transcends, transfers acts as a great complimentary concept to "sustainopreneurship", since this is one of the many activities a sustainopreneur can undertake. Both concepts breathe from the same air, so to speak.

And instead of "alternative" entrepreneurship, I would call it a conceptual "extension" and "widening" of the concept of entrepreneurship, that views entrepreneurship at large as a social process rather than an economical one. Thus both a sustainopreneur (specifically an entrepreneur who uses entrepreneurship and innovation to make sustainability-related problems a business opportunity - "business with a cause") and transpreneur belongs in the applied land of the same school of this "entrepreneurial conceptual extension". Widens the perspective beyond "business as usual"!

I also did a Google on the concept, and surprisingly almost none had combined the "trans-" prefix to "entrepreneurship" in this conceptual fusion - but it actually has been a part as a wrap-up book chapter back in 1988 dealing with intrapreneurship - one of the directions you point for transpreneurship as transforming, reconstructing, sharing, using/re-using, cycling/re-cycling. This book was about intrapreneurship within academia - reforming academic institutions. Yes, one of the areas needed for transformal (re)formations and (re)framing!

The Academic Intrapreneur. Strategy, Innovation, and Management in Higher Education", Baron Perlman, James Gueths, Donald A. Weber (New York: Praeger Publishers, 1988) > The Future: The Transpreneurial Organization.

It also showed up in other contexts and link. One contribution who list this book is an annotated bibliography of transforming universities: The Entrepreneurial University.

This means it could be developed further - maybe you should experiment with it and add a tentative wordbook entry, in the same manner as I did with "sustainopreneurship"?

Where else have you posted it?

Peace,
Anders
