Sustainopreneur's Cafe

- Community of Sustainability Entrepreneurs

Hi Friends. I came across this interesting article on how Santa Clara University in the US has started a Global Social Benefit Incubator program.
The article can be read here:

While this program is aimed at transferring knowledge about biz practices to the social entrepreneurs, these entrepreneurs would have a wealth of knowledge and practical examples of what works and what doesn't work in the sectors/social environments where they practise their business. Perhaps its time to initiate a two way process where students of biz schools learn from social entrepreneurs too.
Any thoughts on how this can be taken forward.
Cheers!

Yes,

My experience is that it is actually easier for entrepreneurs with a business orientation to embrace sustainability issues at large, than to have social activists (non-business minded) to move into "business thinking", so to have an exchange in between social entrepreneurs and business entrepreneurs is fruitful especially for the former. The more interaction, the more learning. Anyway, it is a street with at least two ways ;).

But, sometimes "new schools of thoughts" also needs "new study programs" from scratch. An idea is to try to influence along the road some educators to actually form such a program "Sustainopreneurship B-school".

Thanks for the contribution, Adite!

Peace,
Anders

PS. One of the most irritating road block is the somewhat obsolete taxation rules differing sharply in between for-profit and not-for-profit - using profit to increase their possibility to grow their chances to solve sustainability-related problems. This is an obstacle for the development of those "in between", maybe to call them "for-prosperity"? DS.
